Wednesday’s Forgotten 45: Sweet

By Jeff Winfield May 8, 2024 | 3:43 PM

This Saturday morning at 9 on Classic American Top 40 the 70’s Casey Kasem counts down the top songs from May 12th, 1973, it’s where I found today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45 from Sweet with “Little Willy”.

The first of 5 U.S. hits for the British glam rockers known in the early 70’s as The Sweet.  The rock critics almost universally hated it, but what do they know?!  The song was the biggest hit of their career, reaching #3 on the charts and it ended up as the 18th most popular song of 1973.

The band grew their audience making appearances on British shows like “Top of the Pops” and I found a performance of “Little Willy” by Sweet, today’s Forgotten 45.
