By Jeff Winfield Apr 30, 2024 | 3:43 PM

It was on this date in 1992 that the final episode of The Cosby Show aired on NBC.  Over 44 million people tuned-in to say goodbye to the Huxtable family.  Rather than get into the sordid details of Mr. Bill Cosby, we’ll focus on a song that was on the charts today in 1992.  Today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45 is from Sophie B. Hawkins with “Damn I Wish I Was Your Lover”.

The New York City native released her debut album “Tongues and Tails” back in ’92 and “Lover” was the very first single from the LP.  It was a world-wide smash, reaching top 5 in the States and becoming a hit in Canada, Denmark, New Zealand, and Norway.

There were two different versions of the video because MTV refused to play the original version saying it was too erotic.  Sadly she only charted one more song, “As I Lay Me Down” was a hit for her in 1995.

Take a trip back 32 years to 1992 for Sophie B. Hawkins with “Damn I Wish I Was Your Lover” today’s Forgotten 45.
