By Jeff Winfield Apr 23, 2024 | 3:43 PM

It was on this date in 1985 that Coca-Cola announced they were changing the formula of Coke and introduced New Coke to the world.  It’s safe to say that people didn’t like the change! So they quickly rebranded as Coke Classic.  So for today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45, we go back to this week 39 years ago for John Fogerty’s “Rock & Roll Girls”.

Of course known for his work with Creedence Clearwater Revival, John released his album “Centerfield” in January of 1985.  It was his first LP in nine years after battling with his record company.  The album was a success selling over 2 million copies and delivering hits like the title track and “The Old Man Down the Road”.  “Rock & Roll Girls” peaked at #20 on the charts.

He played every instrument on the album thanks to overdubbing.  So find an old can of New Coke and enjoy John Fogerty with “Rock & Roll Girls” today’s Forgotten 45.
