April 15th and the government didn’t waste anytime taking our money to settle up our taxes.  That’s ok, we don’t need to eat for a couple of months!  On this Tax Day for our Forgotten 45 at 3:45 we go back to 1985 for Simply Red with “Money’s Too Tight (Too Mention)”.

Originally recorded by the Valentine Brothers in 1982, Mick Hucknall and Simply Red’s version of the song was their debut single, reaching #28 on the charts in the US and #13 in England.  Of course the band’s biggest hits were the #1 songs “Holding Back the Years” and “If You Don’t Know Me By Now”.

“Celebrating” Tax Day, with Simply Red’s “Money’s Too Tight (To Mention)” today’s Forgotten 45.
