Best known for their #1 song “Blinded By the Light”, Manfred Mann’s Earth Band released “Runner” right before the 1984 Summer Olympics in LA, and the timing couldn’t have been better, resulting in heavy airplay on the radio and on MTV.
In the video, the band performs near a campfire at night (shot on a soundstage), interspersed with video of runners racing or carrying the Olympics flame with footage from previous Summer games in ’72 and ’76.
