Sunday morning on American Top 40 the 80’s, Casey Kasem features the top songs as they were on March 19th, 1983, it’s where I found today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45 from Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers with “Change of Heart”.
The song appears on their 5th album “Long After Dark” which was released in November of 1982. The album featured two hit singles, “You Got Lucky” and “Change of Heart” which went to #21 on the charts.
Tom was inspired by Jeff Lynne’s song “Do Ya” and it’s chord structure and crunchy guitar and in 1983 hadn’t ever worked with the ELO front man, but admired his work. They later worked together on the Traveling Wilbury projects.
