On this date in 1992, the great Donna Summer received her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, so to commemorate the 32nd anniversary, she’s my pick for the Monday Forgotten 45 at 3:45 with “On the Radio”.
The song was included on her Greatest Hits Volume I & II albums, titled “On the Radio”, the single was released in early 1980 and went on to become another of her many top 5 hits. Known as the Queen of Disco, Donna Summer’s legendary career included 5 Grammy Awards and sold over 100 million records worldwide. Donna’s music was on the Top 40 charts every year from 1976 to 1984.
Sadly, Donna Summer passed away from lung cancer at the age of 63 in 2012, but her influence on the music world lives on. Check out this 1999 live performance of “On the Radio” by Donna, today’s Forgotten 45.
