This Sunday morning on classic American Top 40, Casey Kasem features the top songs from March 8th, 1980, it’s where I found today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45 from The Dirt Band with “An American Dream”.
Written by country star Rodney Crowell, the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band released the song in November of 1979 and it became their second biggest crossover hit behind only “Mr. Bojangles”, reaching #16 on the pop charts. It also features Linda Ronstadt on backing vocals.
They are currently on their farewell tour that will bring them to Cedar Rapids and McGrath Amphitheater this summer June 22nd. I found a live performance of “An American Dream” with the Dirt Band in Japan, it’s today’s Forgotten 45!
