Sunday morning from 8 to noon 105.7 KOKZ airs American Top 40 the 80’s! This weekend Casey will play the top songs from March 1st, 1986 and today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45 is one of the songs you’ll hear on the show, from Mike & the Mechanics it’s “Silent Running”.
The super group formed by Mike Rutherford of Genesis, “Silent Running” features Paul Carrack on lead vocals and the song appeared on their self-titled debut album in 1986. The song was a #1 rock hit and a top ten pop smash.
According to Rutherford, the song is about a man who traveled light years ahead in space and knows what is ahead for his family, telling them to prepare for the breakdown of society and to be prepared. Did Mike & the Mechanics see the future or what?
