With the Labor Day Weekend approaching, I found another “work” tune for today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45 from Huey Lewis & the News it’s “Workin’ For a Livin”.

Released in 1982 on their “Picture This” album, I was surprised to see the song wasn’t officially a top 40 hit.  What?!  It reached #41 on the Hot 100 but was a top 20 Rock hit, so I wasn’t completely crazy.  That was the album that pushed the group into the spotlight with hits like “Do You Believe in Love” and “I Hope You Love Me Like You Say You Do”.

A live version of “Workin” was the B side of their hit “The Heart of Rock & Roll” and Huey even did a country version of the song with Garth Brooks that became a top 20 hit on the country charts.

Never in a bad mood when Huey Lewis & the News are playing, check out “Workin’ for a Livin” today’s Forgotten 45.
