For the Monday edition of the Forgotten 45 at 3:45, we wish a Happy 72nd Birthday to Rindy Ross of Quarterflash and celebrate by playing their hit “Find Another Fool”.
Rindy and her husband Marv were part of the group was formed by merging two popular Oregon bands, Seafood Mama and Pilot (not the one from “Magic” fame). Performing under the name Seafood Mama, the band originally released the picture-sleeved single of “Harden My Heart” on a local private label in the spring of 1980. It was a big hit on Portland radio stations and got the band a one-hour TV special, Seafood Mama In Concert in June of 1980. They renamed themselves Quarterflash, a name that came from Australian slang “a quarter flash, three quarters foolish”.
They were signed to Geffen Record in 1981 and their debut album featured “Harden My Heart” which went to #3, and “Find Another Fool” peaked at #16. Check out the live performance of the song, today’s Forgotten 45!
