It’s Friday! Time for another Absolutely 80’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45 and a song you can hear again tomorrow night at 9 with Nina Blackwood on 105.7 KOKZ. Today’s choice is from After the Fire with “Der Kommissar”.
The song was originally a European hit for Falco, but the song didn’t chart in the U.S. Enter the British band After the Fire who recorded an English version of the song, but the song wasn’t really doing much of anything. After going on tour with Van Halen, they announced they were going to break up. But thanks to a Laura Brannigan song that sampled the song, and the combination of MTV airplay the song became a top 5 hit.
The record company was eager to have After the Fire get back together, but that was it. A true one-hit wonder! Check out the video to “Der Kommissar” today’s Forgotten 45!
