For today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45, we go back to this week in 1983 for Peter Gabriel’s “Shock the Monkey”.
Originally the lead singer of Genesis, Peter left the group in 1975 to start a solo career. His biggest album “Us” sold over 5 million copies in the States and delivered his only #1 hit “Sledgehammer”. “Shock the Monkey” was Peter’s first top 40 hit in the US climbing to #29 on the charts in early ’83.
