105.7 KOKZ brings you part 2 of the Top 100 Songs of 1980 this Sunday morning from 8 to noon on Classic American Top 40. It’s where I found today’s pick for the Forgotten 45 at 3:45 from the Pointer Sisters with “He’s So Shy”.
The song was originally intended for Leo Sayer as “She’s So Shy” but the Pointer Sisters version of girl group meets new wave/pop & dance became a comeback hit for the group and became the launching point of their success in the 80’s.
“Shy” reached #3 on the charts in 1980 and remained there for three weeks. Sadly we lost Anita Pointer on New Years Eve at the age of 74. Her sister June passed away from cancer in 2006 at the age of 52. That leaves Ruth, who sang lead on today’s Forgotten 45.
