This Saturday morning Classic American Top 40 is 4 hours from 8 to noon from November 3rd, 1979. A countdown so good, I found two Forgotten 45’s at 3:45, today’s is from the Commodores with “Sail On”.
The Commodores sold over 70 million albums world-wide and are best known for lead singer Lionel Richie’s contributions. The ’79 album “Midnight Magic” gave us the #1 song “Still” and “Sail On” was a top ten hit for the group from Tuskegee, Alabama.
As for Lionel, he went on to solo fame and sold another 100 million albums on his own and he’s more recently been a judge on American Idol.
