This Saturday night from 9 to midnight Nina Blackwood hosts her annual Halloween Party on Absolutely 80’s! It’s where I found today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45 from Oingo Boingo with “Dead Man’s Party”.

The song technically wasn’t a chart hit, but the song has made many appearances in popular culture. It is perhaps best known for its appearance in the 1986 film Back to School with Rodney Dangerfield, where the band performs it at a party. It was also featured in the series Chuck, as well as the Halloween episode of Malcom in the Middle. The song’s name was also used as the title of the second episode of season three of Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Lead singer Danny Elfman is now best known for his work providing music for films such as 17 of them by director Tim Burton, as well as the Men in Black films and the 50 Shades of Gray series.  And the TV themes for Desperate Housewives and the Simpsons!

Happy Halloween!
