For today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45, we go back to October of 1982 for a song that I personally think should’ve been a bigger hit.  Kenny Loggins and Steve Perry with “Don’t Fight It”.

The song was included on Kenny’s 1982 album “High Adventure” and as the story goes, he was playing on the same outdoor festival as Journey back in the day and came away really impressed with Steve Perry’s vocals.  They got together to write songs at Kenny’s house.  He was looking for a simple “rocker” sound and Steve was working on his first solo album.

Kenny said they went “mindless” and came up with the hook and what became “Don’t Fight It”. The song eventually reached #17 on the US charts and was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group in 1983.

Crank it up! “Don’t Fight It” is today’s Forgotten 45!
