The year was 1987. The scent of Aqua Net was in the air! For today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45, we take you back to the land of hair bands AND killer power ballads, this one by Europe with “Carrie”.
It was the biggest chart hit for the Swedish band, hitting #3 in the Fall of 1987 on “The Final Countdown” album. The band was formed in 1979 but had their first big breakthrough in 1982 by winning the televised competition Rock SM (Swedish Rock Championships). The Final Countdown album eventually sold over 3 million copies in the States.
