The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland will host John Mellencamp Day this Thursday as they open the exhibit “Legends of Rock: John Mellencamp”. So I thought it would be fitting to feature a Mellencamp tune today for the Forgotten 45 at 3:45, John with “Paper in Fire”.
The exhibit will feature such memorabilia as the suit the singer/songwriter wore in promo photos for his 2003 album, Trouble No More; the 1976 Fender Telecaster guitar he played onstage extensively starting in 1981; a guitar that David Bowie gifted him; and a new original oil painting.
As for “Paper in Fire”, the song was a #9 hit for John in 1987 from his “Lonesome Jubilee” album.
