Today on the Forgotten 45 at 3:45, we celebrate the birthday of the Panozzo brothers from Styx, Chuck and John born on this date in 1948.  Today we feature the final top 5 hit from the band, “Show Me The Way”.

The Panozzo brothers grew up near Chicago, they were fraternal twins born 90 minutes apart.  When they were 7 they started taking music lessons, John was interested in drumming, Chuck was drawn to the bass.  They formed a band with their neighbor Dennis DeYoung in 1961 called The Tradewinds and eventually became Styx in 1974.

Sadly years of alcoholism caused the early death of John at the age of 47 in 1996.  Chuck continues to play with the band and is celebrating his 74th birthday today.

“Show Me the Way” reached #3 in 1991 and was the final top 5 hit for the band from their album “Edge of the Century”.
