I woke up feeling funky on this fine Eastern Iowa day and since we’re featuring 1972 this Saturday morning on American Top 40, I picked a funky tune for today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45, the O’Jays and “Back Stabbers”.
The O’Jays were on the front end of Philly soul, “Back Stabbers” was a #1 Soul hit and #3 on the pop chart. The song warns men about “friends” who smile to their faces, but are secretly planning to steal their wives or girlfriends. Scandalous!
The O’Jays are members of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Rhythm and Blues Hall of Fame and you can hear this song again Saturday morning on AT40.
Enjoy the Soul Train performance of “Back Stabbers” today’s Forgotten 45!
