Singer-songwriter Andrew Gold was born on this date in 1951 so we’re going back to 1977 for today’s Forgotten 45 at 3:45, “Lonely Boy”.

Andrew was born into a show business family and started writing songs at the age of 13 and had a hand in some of the 70’s projects by Linda Ronstadt in fact he was part of her band from 1973 to 1977.

His second solo album “What’s Wrong With This Place” brought us today’s Forgotten tune and his only top 10 hit in the states.  Of course he’s also known for “Thank You For Being a Friend” which was used as the theme song for The Golden Girls.

Sadly Andrew Gold passed away in June of 2011 at the age of 59 while battling kidney cancer.  Take a trip back to ’77 with “Lonely Boy”.
