On this very date in 1971, this one-hit wonder was at #1 of the charts in the UK and went on to score a top ten hits in the states in 1972. While it’s not “forgotten” it’s one I haven’t played in awhile so today’s Forgotten 45 is “Bang a Gong “Get it On” by T. Rex.
The song charted again in the summer of 1985 with the supergroup Power Station featuring Robert Palmer. The song reached #9 on the charts surpassing the original.
