As we head into the holiday weekend, I’ve plucked a song from Nina Blackwood’s Absolutely 80’s show tomorrow night from 9 to midnight. It’s from Sting and “If You Love Somebody Set Them Free”.
It was Sting’s first solo hit reaching #3 on the charts in 1985. the first of 13 top 40 hits as a solo artist. Of course he became known from his time as the singer of The Police, but Sting’s solo work included elements of jazz, new age, reggae, and rock. His work has sold over 100 million copies world-wide and most recently he was featured in the Steve Martin, Martin Short show “Only Murders in the Building”
