Since I went down the 1980 Iowa Final Four rabbit hole yesterday, I thought I’d feature the song that was used by NBC for the tournament that year.
Today’s Forgotten 45 is “This Is It” by Kenny Loggins. The reached number 11 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the Fall of 1979 but in Iowa the song was etched in Hawkeye fans hearts and minds forever as the theme song for the Final Four on NBC on Iowa’s magical run behind Ronnie Lester and Hall of Fame Coach Lute Olson.
