Check out that dork!  That blurry picture is from my senior year when I was a young man roaming the halls of Mid-Prairie High School in Wellman, today’s Forgotten 45 was on the radio.  From 1981, it’s Donnie Iris and “Ah Leah”.

Donnie wrote the #1 hit “The Rapper” for the Jaggerz in 1970 and was a member of Wild Cherry when they hit #1 with “Play That Funky Music”.  While Leah peaked at #29 on the charts, I remember hearing it quite a bit growing up in Eastern Iowa.  You can hear the song again Sunday morning on Classic American Top 40 from 8 to noon.
