I’m a 100% die-hard Hawkeye fan, I bleed black and gold.  It saddened me to hear of the passing of long-time TV & radio voice of the Hawkeyes Mac McCausland at the age of 75 at his home in Las Vegas.

Back in the day before we had a thousand streaming services and long before the Big Ten Network was even a thought in anyone’s mind, Iowans across the state made Hawkeye Basketball appointment viewing on a state-wide network.  Mac was teamed up with Larry Morgan for broadcasts largely in the 80’s and 90’s on Raycom and ESPN Plus.

Mac played for Iowa in the late 60’s under legendary coach Ralph Miller and his son Kent played for Dr. Tom Davis at Iowa.  He spent most of his life in Waterloo where he was in the insurance business.  He is also survived by his daughter Amy.

Thanks for the memories Mac.  It’s chips and salsa time in your honor.
