Head East – Never Been Any Reason

Eastern Illinois band that hit the bigtime…. kinda.

Head East began as a couple of college kids who had a love for music and out a band together. They wanted to write and perfomr their own music and create something new to put out into the world, rather than rehashing what’s already been done.

The band’s debut single from their first album, ‘Flat As A Pancake’, did just that with it’s signature keyboard sound. It’s the first thing you hear and it grabs you and makes you stay for the rest of the ride!

It’s the ONLY song they are known for and from the album, nearly everyone had because of this song! The rest of ‘Flat As A Pancake’ wasn’t bad, just nothing that stuck and they haven’t had anything since. The people who go to their shows when they play, are BIG fans and probablt have more than just this album. BUT – Everyone came for one song… Which is why they usually hold off playing it until the end or even an encore!

It hit the Hot 100 but stalled at #68. However, FM rock radio grabbed hold and thanks to them playing it for over 45 years, we know Head East.

Recorded in my old home area, the Quad Cities and the amazing RIBCO (Rock Island Brewing Company)!
