Here’s a suggestion from Carla in Cedar Rapids AND it happens to be coming up again this weekend on AT40 – The 80s!

Martin Briley – The Salt In My Tears

Martin Briley is a British songwriter/singer/guitarist/keyboardist who at a very young age got into the music business,

While not getting any sort of recognition as part of a band when he was 17, Sir George Martin (yes, The 5th Beatle) signed him as a session player and back-up singer at AIR, Martin’s own company.

He eventually moved to New York and got work as a touring and session musician for acts like Julian Lennon, Donna Summer, Olivia Newton-John, Meat Loaf and several others.

Mercury Records signed him as a solo artists in the early 80s and put out three albums. He’s considered a “One-Hit Wonder” with “The Salt In My Tears” that got heavy airplay on MTV and eventually, the #36 spot on the Hot 100 in 1983.

Ever since, he’s been writing songs for many BIG artists like Keny Loggins, *NSYNC, Pat Benatar, Greg Allman, Night Ranger, Jeff Healey. David Hasselhoff and MANY more!

Hear it again on Sunday on AT 40 – The 80s!
