A great suggestion from Ken Feeney.

Blondie – Rapture

Blondie had released ‘Autoamerican’ late in 1980. In January of 1981, the single “Rapture” was released and climbed quickly up the Hot 100.

This was the second single from the album and it became a stand-out on Top 40 radio because of it’s mix on music genre’s. Rock/New Wave/Rap/Hip-hop all blended into a pop radio single. The mix introduced many American’s to some of these genre’s.

The song topped the Hot 100 and became the first song with rap to do that and was also the first video on MTV to feature the same!

This song blew me away when I first heard it and didn’t know anything about rap, growing up in DeWitt, Iowa. I started my crush on Deborah Harry because of this video.
