Queen – Radio Ga Ga
Queen’s commentary on music videos “seeming just as important” as the aural pleasure of hearing a song and one’s own imagination bringing forth the story.
“Radio Ga Ga” was released as a single from ‘The Works’ album in 1984. The band was lamenting the days when radio was king and the main entertainment before the rise of television. Radio comedies, drama, mysteries and all your news came from the radio in the early days.
As television grew, less and less listeners gravitated toward radio, until the automobile companies added the ability to listen while driving!
“Radio Ga Ga” topped the charts in many countries around the world, but peaked at #16 on the Hot 100 here. However, it was one of the songs Queen always performed in concert, including the amazing moment in Live Aid.
