Alias – More Than Words Can Say (I Need You Now)
After the band Sheriff split up, they actually had a number one hit with “When I’m With You”. You may remember the long, sustained high note at the end by singer, Freddie Curci!
Curci tried to get the band back together after the song became a hit, but not everyone agreed. So, Curci and guitarist, Steve DeMarchi and his brother wrote and recorded a new song.
The guys enlisted former Heart members, guitarist Roger Fisher, bassist Steve Fossen, and drummer Mike Derosier to form a new band – Alias.
“More Than Words Can Say” was released in 1990 and was destined to be a hit, since it had lots of similarities to “When I’m With You”, including a sustained last note in the song.
The song debuted on the Hot 100, and made it to the Top 10 in just four week, eventually peaking at #2!
