In memory of Songwriter Hall of Fame inductee, Jim Steinman….
Bonnie Tyler – Holding Out For A Hero

Dean Pitchford co-wrote all the songs on Footloose as he was the screenwriter of the film. He knew it better than anyone so why not?
Jim Steinman produced and co-wrote “Holding Out For A Hero” with Pitchford, adding that Bonnie Tyler should be the voice for the song.
Tyler was asked and then flown to Paramount in California to see early scenes from the film, to get the feeling of urgency she needed for the song. The rest, is music history.
“Holding Out For A Hero” was released on the Footloose Soundtrack as well as Tyler’s album, ‘Sweet Dreams And Forbidden Fire”, released in 1986.
The single hot the Hot 100 and climbed to the #34 spot, where it peaked. It’s still considered one of Bonnie Tyler’s signature songs.
