This is one of those albums that you either knew about and went out and bought, or you never heard of the album, just the hit single, “Time of the Season”. Of course, in 1965, radio picked up on The Zombies debut album that had the singles, “She’s Not There”, “Tell Her No” and a great cover of “You’ve Really Got A Hold On Me/Bring It On Home To Me” by Smokey Robinson and The Miracles and Sam Cooke, respectively.
Even though ‘Odessey & Oracle’ barely bubbled under the mainstream, it’s been called one of the best albums to come out of the late 60s, and even influential when it comes to the production and sound quality. Bu the time the album and band’s notoriety grew, they’d split up. Rod Argent and Chris White had formed Argent and were focused on moving forward. Luckily, there were lots of songs recorded within the time they were together, so eventually there were more releases and even a highly sought after and costly box set. Wish I still had that…
