This article reads like I wrote it. In 1989, my parents were shopping for a new car and we were at the local Buick dealer. I remember, they really liked the 1990 Buick Skyhawk 2-door, manual. While the paperwork was being drawn up, I couldn’t take my eyes off of the red, 1990 Reatta in the showroom.

It was the raddest (well, it WAS 1989 and I was a freshman in high school) 2-seater, 2-door car I’s ever seen! It sat very low, interior was red, like the body, and the seats were black. The main thing I noticed was the touch-screen in the dash! Remember, this was 1989!! I’m positive it was the only car with that future-istic technology. The screen wasn’t small either! It was bigger than some of the stock touch-screen on vehicles now! I was sold on it and pretty sure I annoyed the hell out of my parents to get that one instead of the Skyhawk the papers that were being printed up and signed AS I was demanding they get the Reatta.

I did not win that argument and pretty sure they discussed trading me in for a discount on the Skyhawk.

But, I never forgot that car. Neither did the writer of this article.
