Celebrating the life of Brad Delp. The world lost the voice of Boston and RTZ today, in 2007.
Boston – Cool The Engines
Boston’s LONG awaited album, ‘Third Stage’. released in 1986, 8 years after ‘Don’t Look Back’, had 5 singles released from it. Three of them went Top 40, one did nothing but did get airplay on rock radio, and one only made the U.S. Mainstream Rock chart.
“Cool The Engines” was the second released single and aired mostly on rock radio, though it did get Top 40 airplay.
Much of the music on ‘Third Stage’ was written well before the 1986 release but Tom Sholz was in and out of court dealing with a lawsuit CBS brought on him. Over a six year period after 1978’s ‘Don’t Look Back’, Delp and Sholz wrote most of what became ‘Third Stage’ together
“Cool The Engines” rose quickly up the U.S. Mainstream Rock chart where it finally peaked at #4!
The video below includes “The Launch”, and instrumental that leads into “Cool The Engines”.
