Released as the second single from Peter Gabriel’s 1992 album, ‘Us’, “Steam” is about a very smart, cultured woman who knows many things who is in a relationship with a man who isn’t any of those things. However, he’s very in tune with the woman and knows her better than she knows herself.
“Steam” climbed the Hot 100 and peaked at #32 but did well with the awards that year and the next.
In 1993, the video won MTV Video Music Awards for Best Visual Effects and Best Editing and in 1994. the video won a Grammy for Best Music Video!
