White Lion’s breakthrough album, ‘Pride’, brought the band to the glam-metal forefront, thanks to MTV!
The lead single, “Wait”, was released in the summer of 1987, but didn’t end up charting until after MTV aired the video in heavy rotation. It made the Hot 10 in February 1988 and kept climbing the chart, peaking at #8 on the Top 40!
Half power-ballad, half rocker, guys as well as gals dug the song. Women like the romantic theme as well as front-man Mike Tramp while enjoyed the metal side of the song and the guitar prowess of Vito Bratta, who at the time, was being compared to Eddie Van Halen because of his style of playing.
The beautiful woman in the video, Christie Muhaw, was killed in a car accident, less than a year after the video helped the song hit the Top 10.
