In honor and tribute to John Lennon, we’ll track through the last album he released, just a couple months before his death, John Lennon/Yoko Ono – Double Fantasy.
Some great stuff here and it was all just pouring out of him after his five year “holiday” from the music biz, to be a house husband and father to Sean. He said he just started to write as ideas came flooding out of him, and all of this and the posthumous release, Milk and Honey, came from his time away from music.
Now, the elephant in the room: Yoko. She’s a world renown conceptual artist and has many recordings of her audio art. Many aren’t accepting of it, and that’s fine. If you haven’t heard this album all the way through because of Yoko’s contributions, I’d say this is you chance to experience her more mainstream side. John loved it and a couple of these songs went on to be dance club hits! The more I listen to Double Fantasy, the more I enjoy Yoko’s musical contributions to this release.
The main thing I’m saying is – open your mind and float downstream with me as we listen to this record, together.
