Meco – Star Wars Theme/Cantina Band
Meco (Domenico Monardo) is an American music producer and musician who is best known for the #1 hit “Star Wars Theme/Cantina Band” single that was released on his ‘Star Wars And Other Galactic Funk” LP, released in 1977.
He essentially took the original theme, composed by John Williams, and “disco’ed” it up for mass consumption during the days of shakin’ your booty.
He nailed the pulse of pop culture at that time due to the popularity of Star Wars and disco.
